From our very beginnings in Pike Place Market in 1971, to where we stand today, Starbucks has constantly evolved. Back then, the company was a single store in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market, and offered some of the world’s finest fresh-roasted whole bean coffees. The name, inspired by Moby Dick, evoked the romance of the high seas and the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders.

In 1981, Howard Schultz (Starbucks former chairman, president and chief executive officer) first walked into a Starbucks® store. From his first cup of Sumatra, Howard was drawn into Starbucks and joined a year later. In 1983, Howard Schultz travelled to Italy and became captivated with Italian coffee bars and the romance of the coffee experience, his vision was to bring the Italian coffeehouse tradition back to the United States and in 1984 the first Starbucks Café Latte was served.

In 1996, a classic was born: the bottled Frappuccino coffee drink. Embracing the success of the blended original served in Starbucks coffeehouses, it quickly became a favourite in US grocery outlets and was followed by Doubleshot Espresso coffees. Fast forward to 2010. Starbucks partner up with Arla Foods. And Starbucks Chilled Coffee becomes available through grocery stores across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

For over 45 years, we‘ve been perfecting the art and science of roasting to create a unique, high-quality coffee which people around the world know and love. That same coffee goes into our Chilled Coffee beverages. They are the ideal blend of the highest quality coffee and milk, deliciously chilled and ready to go.
